I think I preferred the 1.4 creator (2.0 is confusing. Don't judge me.) but 2.0 is better in every other way. It's also annoying how you create an awesome character or something on the paint or whatever only to find that it's bitmap because it's default.

I dunno, I've used Scratch 1.4 a lot and I just started using the 2.0 editor a bit and I don't find it confusing and like it very much.

Same.

Still not really seeing what makes it so confusing? It's a LOT like 1.4... just an updated look.

The one thing I don't like about 2.0 is that there's not many instruments and fonts.

that's true. the previous midi library (scratch.mit edu/projects/721904/) was great compared to the 4 or 5 instruments available in flash for 2.0

Huh. Never even noticed that. I wonder... if you would set it up correctly, could one create a 2.0 mod that includes fonts and sounds from 1.4, and could they be uploaded to the Scratch website? I'd imagine so...

New fonts wouldn't work in Scratch unless you convert the text to paths, and new instruments wouldn't work at all.
Yo

i think additional fonts do work in 2.0, just as long as you don't try to edit them with an editor that doesn't have those fonts

2.0 is better in many ways, but I still prefer using 1.4, because it's what I've used for over 7 years now, and 2.0 pretty much killed off modding.

I like the general big additions made to 2.0. However, the small quality of life things from 1.4 are sorely missing. Larger selection of fonts, various shift-click/right-click functions, etc. It seems like smaller old elements were neglected in the emphasis on the new things.

I really miss 1.4 now. The community was so much better, people didn't get banned just for doing tiny things, etc. 2.0 has more features, a nicer website, vector graphics - but with that came a gigantic community, which I don't necessarily like. I liked it better as a small, [relatively] quiet site.

I wasn't around during 1.4, but 2.0 was definitely better than 3.0.

This post didn't exactly age well with the release of 3.0. With 2.0 it at least had some kind of unique community, while with 3.0 we got nothing
It is physically impossible to not necropost on this website.

i didn't even know about scratch when 1.4 existed
but when i look through the archives i see it was a very friendly site.
nowdays, people get banned for the smallest things.
no way this exists
